Mitsubishi plans to invest over $690 million in building one of the world’s largest green hydrogen plants in the Netherlands. The project, scheduled to start construction in 2026, aims to leverage Europe’s expertise in green hydrogen development for global expansion. With an annual capacity of 80,000 tonnes, it will be nearly 30 times larger than the current largest facility. Mitsubishi aims to use electricity from Eneco’s wind farm for the electrolysis process. The investment aligns with the EU’s goal to increase green hydrogen capacity to 10 million tonnes by 2030. Japanese companies are increasingly involved in global green hydrogen projects.
