Chennai: One dies in ethanol tank explosion at Indian Oil Refinery refinery

In Chennai, tragedy struck at the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) refinery when a 48-year-old welder, G Perumal, lost his life in an explosion involving an ethanol storage tank. Perumal was engaged in welding work on the tank, which tragically exploded during repair, causing immediate fatality. Two co-workers sustained injuries and were hospitalized. The incident prompted the deployment of fire tenders, and firefighting units worked swiftly to contain the fire. An internal inquiry has been initiated by IOC officials, while authorities have registered a case regarding the incident.
